Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS)
Applications will begin on April 27, 2020 for the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS). It is aimed to support employers who are hit the hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic, and to protect the jobs Canadians depend on.

This will cover about 75% of an employee’s wages, to a max of $847 per week, for all employers and across all sectors who have suffered a drop in gross revenues of at least 15% in March and 30% in both April and May individually.
Eligible employers are entitled to receive a 100% refund for certain employer contributions to Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan, Quebec Pension Plan, and Quebec Parental Insurance Plan paid in respect of employees who are on leave with pay.
Employers that are eligible for both the CEWS and the 10% Temporary Wage Subsidy for a period, in any specific period the remuneration paid from the 10% Temporary Wage Subsidy will reduce the amount available to be claimed under the CEWS in the same period.
This program is effective from March 15 to June 6, 2020 (12 weeks).
