T2200 and T2200S Forms for 2020

The T2200 form is a Declaration of Conditions of Employment that an employer completes for their employees if an employee is required to work from home and/or results in them having to incur expenses while working from home.

New for the 2020 tax year, there is a T2200S form that an employer completes for their employees if an employee was required to work from home due to the COVID-19 outbreak and/or resulted in them having to incur expenses while working from home. The T2200 and T2200S forms can be shared with employees as a PDF to be printed and completed manually or can be completed as a fillable/savable PDF, to be completed electronically.

The Canadian Payroll Association has also prepared a Q&A PDF for the T2200 and T2200S that you can download from their site to help answer some common questions. Please visit the link: https://payroll.ca/T2200

As COVID-19 continues to burden employees having to work from home, any tax savings can be helpful when having to file your 2020 income taxes. If you believe you qualify, please have your employer fill out the necessary form for you to keep on file in case the Canada Revenue Agency asks to see it in the future.
