Service Canada Uses Email to Reach Clients

If you didn’t already know, as of June 2019, Service Canada will be contacting clients by email, if they require more information about your Employment Insurance claim and have been unable to reach you by phone. A toll-free number for you to reach them is sent to the email address you provided during your application.


Please remember Service Canada will not provide or request your personal information via email. If you are concerned with the authenticity of an email received claiming to be from Service Canada, please visit their website (https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/corporate/contact/ei-individual.html) and contact them.


Remember to always check the validity of all emails received before opening and downloading attachments, and replying to emails. The same goes with phone calls. Please verify the phone call by going to the website of the government, organization and obtain the official number and respond accordingly.
